Building playgrounds for the children of the tsunami and NOW GLOBALLY!

As an international photographer, I was compelled to travel to
Thailand
in the aftermath of the devastating tsunami of December 26, 2004.
My trip was self-funded and I was able to join the Tsunami Volunteer Center once I arrived and begin the tedious task of rebuilding damaged homes, Buddhist temples and visiting affected school children. This experience wore heavy on my heart every moment on that flight back to San Francisco. "How could I do more?" I constantly asked myself. Working with the displaced and orphaned children in the surrounding |
refugee camps brought about an idea to initiate an organization to raise funds to rebuild the playgrounds lost in the tsunami. Read More...

Design
Currently the design phase is underway for the Thailand playground projects. I am reviewing design concepts that will be both cost effective and safe. Given that the playgrounds are to be constructed on foreign land, the permitting and construction methods will be dictated by the local government. I will ensure that the children will enjoy the facilities while keeping safety as the highest priority.
Fundraising and Development
Operation Playground is charged with raising the monies to cover as much of the cost of the playground which has been approved in the design phase. Fundraising efforts have already moved in full swing (no pun intended!) and have been raised through generous donations from people like you. Further, in-kind donations are solicited from local businesses and individual sponsors.
